Stained Glass Artist Centurion - Chris Boshoff Stained Glass
Each piece is unique and cannot be exactly replicated. Chris is continually looking at expressing himself through colour and shape in the medium of Stained Glass, sometimes doing the more traditional layout with a current theme or naming and framing a new interpretation.
Born and bred in rural Mpumalanga, son of a farmer, Chris completed an Agricultural Diploma, but followed a career as Mechanic. He became Master Diagnostic Technician at Lexus Centurion. Contrary to his fellows he is a passionate collector of glass and fine china, rather than fast and fancy cars.
He wanted to revive the ancient art to be more popular and relevant, not limited to windows and lampshades. He took a fancy to the texture and shapes seen in multi-toned glass sheets (Spectrum glass). He had no heart for cutting it in pieces, but caught inspiration from his interpretation of shapes and figures. He affectionately named each piece with endless enthusiasm. This gives the classic medium a modern decorative twist.
His love for glass originated from his childhood remembrance of the colourful “magic church windows”. Chris taught himself to do stained glass in his youth, but took classes about 5 years ago to refine the technique.
